An arrangement meant to perhaps improve on and also add a little to the original version you heard in that last Castlevania video I put out here. Is it wrong of me to enjoy the countermelody in this one as much as I do? I quite enjoy it; I think it's one of my favorite countermelody lines ever.
It's a little fuller than the original, which only used 5 out of the 6 possible FM channels, and also has a little bit added on based on some older sketches I did for a completely unrelated project that ended up fitting here a bit. Kinda funny how that happens.
Again, it's made with TFM Tracker, output to a VGM, recorded with Kega Fusion by way of VGM_PLAY by MIKE-STAMP.

  • huh>??? who made this? you or konami?

  • They made the original. I worked off a transcription of it, but this arrangement is entirely my own work.

  • I like the overall composition a lot, but not the instrumentation. some of the leads are pretty whiny and tinny sounding, and the drums have no depth. I suggest having a listen to Gauntlet 4 and Master of Monsters.

  • I'm listening to Gauntlet 4's first stage music right now and I think the drums are better than what I have on this one (and I was still experimenting with drums at this point) but I'm not sure I prefer the brass voices much.

  • Oh man.

Sorta makes me wish there was an active Megadrive (Genesis, whatever) CastleVania hacking community so you could stick this in somewhere.

The added brightness and dynamics at 1:35 are epic, man. <3

  • Haven't heard from you in ages, man! Nice to know ya liked it.

  • Ouch! my ears are ringing! Still good though.

  • Dope Listen.

  • I want this shit in LoS. Good job.

  • amazing work dude!

  • @Alianger

Gauntlet 4's "transparent obstacle" is amazing, very atmospheric. Other pieces like "iron adventures" and such are also great :D

  • EXcellent job! I loved it! I might post some done with MTV Music Generator 1/2 for Play Station 1 or 2, but I still don't have a proper software to upload it. Any help here would be great.

  • Yeah IIRC the brass in that one has this offputting "side effect" noise on the attack.

Hmm, hard to come up with good examples as many orchestral style attempts failed misarebly on MD. Batman is pretty good, and Super Fantasy Zone. Both by Sunsoft.
