Have you read the novels? I've only read one and a half (completely out of order), and they have plenty of slashy subtext in them. Goodness me, if you haven't read 'Heart of the Sun', you should. 'Heart of the Sun' repeatedly mentions how much Spock and Kirk mean to each other. This novel is so obvious. It's so obvious that even the visiting dignitary knows...and voices her opinion on the matter...she goes as far as to think that Spock being 'dead' will break the captain's psyche.

I don't know if this was mentioned anywhere else, but it relates to the fight scene, specifically Kirk's "death". Orgasm is also known as "the little death" in french, which I'm sure at least Shatner knew, cause of the whole 'raised-in-french-speaking-Mon­tréal' thing. Relevant?

I just paused the video at 1:59, guys, and I think Mr. Nimoy and Mr. Shatner had fun filming the tussling. Not meant to be taken like /that/, I tussle with my friends all the time, but I did one hell of a double take when I noticed they were both smiling. Y'know, considering the scene.
