From our Interview with N.T. Wright on the Historical Jesus, this clip answers the question: How could the Gospel writers have known what happened in the secret trials of Jesus?
One implication of this is that Philo Judaeus not referring to Jesus, and Josephus' minimal mentions, are a result of censorship, as later reported by Pliny Younger when they were trying to wipe out theJesus sects. 4 early versions of Jesus-Faith were reportedly materialist, not using seven spirits of heaven (as also with later heresies). Apollos explained what Holy Spirit (a Minerva analog) meant much later, it is reported. So, solely materialist-historical analyses of Gospel would be heresies.
