@syncopater999 I just discovered this guy a few months ago by chance when he played at a benefit in CT, you are right, he is amazing and sure doesn't seem to get the attention he deserves. Talked to him after the show and he is a really nice guy too. I would love to play half as good as him. In case you didn't know, he just started posting some stuff on youtube at sbharpguitar. Good stuff.

How is it possible that me fiddling about on some original but loosely structured DADGAD piece can get 23k views when Stephen's wonderful music in this tune gets only a third of that in the same period? That is absurd and only serves to highlight what an undiscovered gem this man is. Acoustic guitar fans wake up and listen to Stephen's music. You are missing out big time.

This video is a little out of sync, but it's the music that counts, I guess.

Steven is truly an amazing player. I saw him play in a sandwich shop in Cape Hatteras, NC. What a nice surprise to see a musician of his caliber up close and very personal. I spoke w/ him briefly. Nice guy. He's from Va not too far from where I live. It's amazing that he is not very well known. But then again, I think that is indicative of how great he is. Too talented for the typical mainstream audience. Playing on that level goes right over their heads.

i would agree that stephen is just as good tho!

I like Martin Tullstrum's version of Freight Train. Going to check out more of his stuff. Yeah, Stephen had to cancel a tour with Andy just recently. Think they had some 20 or more dates in Europe. Stephen is healing from a kidney transplant... I think he deserves more credit for the guitar work, and especially for his hand in harp guitar revival...
I'm sort of waiting to catch Tommy E and Stephen playing. I never have got to see them together. Saw Doyle a couple weeks back. Man, I love guitar.
Many of the overly flash guitarists would do well to listen to this man. Tunes such as this don't have to be difficult to play to be beautiful or impressive. This is one really good example of how to play the guitar in a restrained way and doesn't it sound wonderful?

Yeah, are you sure he's not playing two songs here? The riff from 2:22 - 2:54 sounds a lot like his song "Perestroika."
