'...this is where we live, in this stone maze, in this northern city, under the terrible stars, and we belong.'

  • I wrote this poem. It's not pretentious & I am not an elitist. Also, Bradford is not a dump & I know this because I've travelled all over the world and seen real dumps. Racism, bigotry, negativity & sheer stupidity, as demonstrated by 'Getbig' only serve to show that person's state of mind & has nothing to do with Bradford itself.

I am proud of my city, as are many, many others.

  • Yay! Thank you :)

  • Ha, how laughable. A video containing pretenious poetry will do Bradford no good what-so-ever.

What is THE first aspect of Bradford that needs to change???

    IT"S PEOPLE.

  • Thanks for your needlessly prejudiced and narrow minded contribution Deanboy2007...I hope if you're down on your luck, you don't get a kicking, but someone reaches out to help you positively instead of supplying a dickheaded comment.

You think the residents of Dresden, Beirut or Sarajevo gave up on their cities...no they mucked in helped to rebuild. Try not to be part of the problem shithead.

  • The City's socio-economic problems, size and diversity are actually making a it unique a place for civic experimentation.

The regen programme (http://www.bradfordurc.com) is looking to provide some hope, vision and future for a place that's down on its luck. It's easy to knock failure - harder to contribute and try create some change :)

  • I travel all over the world but I've lived in Bradford for 30 years and think it's a actually quite a special and remarkable place. This is a great poem/film - full of the beauty (and glorious eccentricity) of the place. Those people who prefer to see this city as ugly - well, it's their loss.

  • Pretentious shit. Bradford's a dump with scummy people. Get over it.

  • I love Bradford. This poem is rather fab :)

  • This poem shows what Bradford should/ could be like, but unfortunately the reality is quite different. I recently visited Bradford, where I lived until I was 20 and was disappointed and saddened to see how it has deteriorated. The city centre looks like a huge bomb dropped there, right in the middle of Broadway, the people are dishevelled, downtrodden and miserable. Old buildings and reminders of Bradford's glory days do nothing for the people of today. Nowt to write 'ome about.

  • i ve lived here for 20 years and today my eyes have opened. i love this city

  • I live in Bradford and can honestly say that it's the most depressing dump in England. Walking around the city, one could easily imagine that you're walking in a city in pakistan. It's a bloody disgrace how far this city has fallen down the shitter.

The simple truth is that there's way to many pakis. They've took over and now it's theirs. I dread to think how bad it'll be when my kids are grown up

  • What a brilliant sense of rhythm

  • ^ Fair enough.

    Good comment.
