I have learned so much! I am in AP Bio and freaked out at the mention of hydrophobia. Would dyed water have made a difference in appearance or the ability to slide?

@DoctorsGreenMaggot Yes, probably. It depends on whether or not the dye would interact with the surface or induce greater adhering at the surface. Certainly for chemical modified surfaces this would be a bigger concern. For purely physical modifications, like the Teflon, the dye might be less of an issue - but it would probably change the water's properties enough (like surface tension) that the air gaps in the micron-scale roughness would be filled in.
