I've been noticing these greyish brown flat bugs for a while, just flicking them off but this week noticed little clusters of red shiney eggs. I looked up bugs common on squash and zucchini plants and found out I have SQUASH BUGS! They are so gross and do lots of damage to your plants. I have used an insecticide called "garden safe" fruit and vegetable spray since they were seedlings, but apparently it didn't work. So, I went to the next level and bought some "Sevin" dust. It works like a charm! No more squash bugs. You dust weekly, unless it rains, then you re-dust. I put mine in an old spice jar with shaker holes. Just be careful to wash your hands and keep it away from pets. Good luck in keeping the pests away!

  • The best route is to rip their heads off. No need to waste money on anythning else. Just rip their heads off and you are good to go!

  • using a combination of 25% dawn detergent (original blue) and 75% water works real good. Just spray on the leaves, on eggs and on the crawly critters, and in a few minutes they will be dead. Much more organic than seven dust. Catch them early.

  • you should just use soapy water instead of insecticide. works just as well and is not a dangerous poison.

  • try stomping on them

  • Squash bugs seem to ignore all pesticides where I garden. What I have resorted to doing is picking all the eggs, hatchlings, and adults off with my fingers and crushing them with my fingers. That is rather messy, but it certainly lowers the population of these plant juice sucking bugs.

  • Rachael Ray's got nothin on you! Just kiddin. Hope you get rid of them. All of your veggies look so healthy!
