Tesco, take it from somebody who was 30 defence and went to 40 defence, 40 defence is much better. Not just for hybridding, but for 1v1 pking and it even opens up faster training and stuff like easier fire capes.

you dont need def levels for the gloves just the quests for barrow gloves make you get like 30 def

I was once with 30 def i was a maxed turmoil pure chaotic.. i got 40 def all quested.. its much better for hybriding and you dont get hit much often and its fun because you veng and its kinda fun veng comboing...
