I supposed you mean the german builder Johannes Goemans the father (ca 1703-1774) who took the french name Jean Germain when establishing in France. His 1764 harpsichord is held at the Russell Collection, in Saint Caecilia Hall, Edinburgh .

  • For sure Rameau will appreciate....!

Up to me,it's a complete privilege listening to this rendition.

  • Wow. I hate to be the fly in the ointment, but the Gavotte et Doubles is played so rapidly here that it's not really a baroque piece anymore, not maestoso and grand as it's supposed to be, as Rameau would have intended it. This piece is usually played at too quick a tempo in our time to bring out the dotted rhythm, but it's not Rameau's tempo. Sorry!

  • Cravo é delicioso de se ouvir.

  • Harpsichord=Pinnock

  • Ahh I love it >_< I'm in heaven when I listen to this

  • So beautiful, beautifully played! :)

  • Excellent tempo, execution and recording of a superb harpsichord in a near-perfect acoustic. Probably the best interpretation I have heard of this piece to date.

  • @musicalidea Maybe. William Christie does not pretend to be a specialist harpsichordist; he is an all-round director, producer, conductor, soloist and scholarly musicologist who has done more than any other I know of to champion the music of Rameau. Please avoid sweeping statements.

  • Grand!
