Toronto Mayor Rob Ford thinks the TTC is a Mess???

Mississauga Transit Bus spins out in two inches of snow and has to be towed out of a ditch. Like the Quebec government did a few years ago, the Ontario government has toyed with the idea of making snow tires mandatory in the province during winter, even though the vast majority of Ontarians live in regions where they don't get much snow.. Will this include all government vehicles at all levels if it happens? Most of these vehicles, and yes including police cars are rear wheel drive, as well as commercial trucks and tractor trailers. But if you look at the tires on these vehicles, not only do they not use snow tires, but they don't even have a decent set of all season tires with deep and wide cross treads. Winter tires wear out too quickly when they are driven on dry roads. It's a money issue for the government, just like it is for the private citizen.

How many tractor trailers jack-knife and cause major pile-ups because they hydro-plane on wet and slushy roads.

If the Ontario government does decide to mandate snow tires for vehicles, does this mean the tax payers are going to pay even more to supply government vehicles with the same tires?

Maybe streetcars aren't that bad after all, despite the fact that they are always getting into accidents---rear ending cars that don't give them time to brake, and killing the odd cyclist or pedestrian, as well as breaking down and blocking the road. Not to mention shutting down the city when we do get a snow storm and the rails and switches freeze up.

at least streetcars are quiet on the inside. you never end up stuck in one that rattles like an angry beast bus.

the ttc really is a mess. im a big fan of ttc but there really is a lot to criticize about it
