La Catedral: Allegro Solemne (3rd movement). A classical guitar piece composed by Agustin Barrios. This is a clip of me playing at my senior guitar recital, it lacks a little polish but as live performances go I think it came out quite well. The video quality is poor because it was done on a digital camera but I edited in the sound from the concerts mic, which is of decent quality. Enjoy, Kevin.

  • Why do you think that anyone should watch this?

  • @Curatica Mainly I post things here for my family/friends too see, I leave it public because maybe other people with get some enjoyment out of it too. I'm no pro, no Segovia or Bream and I never will be. But at least I have the guts to play music for people and feel the joy that comes with it.

  • @bagawstrings I understand. I didn't mean to offend you. If you are not a professional musician, this undertaking is quite impressive. Maybe if you played simple and beautiful pieces (and there pieces which are beautiful without being so difficult), the audience would really enjoy it. Best of luck.

  • Maybe is slow but he has a good technique....for a good practice you have to start playing very slow and little by little increase the speed. If you start learn the allegro in 120 you will never learn it. Slowly!!!....but he is not that bad.

  • Its better that you played it at a comfortable tempo then a sloppy fast tempo, good job:)

  • wow great clarity!

  • Very nice senior recital performance! I would love to see you post another performance of this piece now! Time brings speed here, and you did play it very cleanly. Don't listen to the naysayers, to play this movement at any tempo is an accomplishment, and to play as cleanly as you did shows you have true talent. I look forward to you posting this piece again in the future and blowing us all away!

  • i like the tempo, gives more mystery to the piece, it fail in some parts, you only have to practice more, keep on trukin

  • I'm sorry but technical mistakes and slow speed aside, it looks like this is really hard to play for you, and even if it is, you shouldn't look it.

It lacks dynamics and all the little accents that makes a piece into real music. It also should be much for fluid.

I'm sorry but i wouldn't play that at a recital ( or exam like i have in my college). It still needs a lot of work, and the speed also should be brought up.

  • Just because its slower than normal does not mean he didn't practice plus playing at a recital is tough it is still a good job with the clarity of the notes and all that good stuff.
