From a CLO perspective, you must get everyone aligned on message, target, mission, vision and values. Further, to the degree that there is alignment and unification with those is the degree that there is integrity in the operation and in the overall organization. One of the key pieces is to get the marketing, sales and advertising people who make the promise of what customers expect from the organization, together with the operations people lined up together.
The key is to get people involved. The more employees are engaged, the more passionate employees are and care about the results. If you can directly connect their input into coming up with new ideas that improve efficiency, products and services to the improvement of the organization, there is a lot of pride that results. If done well, it is a sustainable long-term improvement process which leads to continuous improvement which is never a bad thing.
