Clip of the original lineup performing If I'm Drowning at Flevofest '92. Captured off their fan video Serpents and Gloves released around 1995.
Not too many people nowadays who have heard of Over the Rhine know their material pre-Good Dog Bad Dog so I thought I'd upload some clips of their older stuff. I like the folksy stuff, too, but I really miss the old days.
They played Greenbelt in 1992 too, and they were awesome there too. Patience and Till We Have Faces are still my fave OTR albums.
I remember watching them and being captivated by their music, and Karin's haunting vocals, most awesome!

I remember seeing OTR at several venues in and around the Cincinnati area and several of their shows are memorable performances (Moonlight Gardens, the amphitheatre at Eden Park, Tall Stacks, the Christmas shows at the Taft, etc.) but the shows they did at Sudsy Malones will always remain my favourite. They performed there without stage lights under dim candlelight. How they ever got away with that I'll never know but it was absolutely magical.

I should add that I don't remember Ric beating the shit out of his guitar though! LOL

Awesome!
I saw them do this same performance at a small club in Lakewood, Ohio. I bet there were not more than 150-200 people there and we were seated at tables! I knew nothing about OTR at the time and they blew me away. Were sitting at tables, with red and white Italian tablecloths, drinking beer and the are rocking. Then, one by one, they end their performance! I was drunk! I was blown away!

I was in the crowd here, my first contact with OTR and man did it leave an impression. Still the most memorable concert I have seen to date. The rain came pouring down but didn't matter. I had never seen an E-bow (the machine Ric uses on his guitar) and was wowed beyond belief. Still love them, but I miss the old days with Ric and Brian as well. Newest live album features their reunion at 20th anniversary :-)!!

THANK YOU!!! I have this video. I love folksy music in general, but I really miss the "old" OTR. They had class AND they rocked! I loved seeing them live back in the day. Now, it's different, not bad, but I find them almost pretentious.

Yes, I can appreciate why you would miss this stuff, it is impressive. I´m missing it and I´ve never seen it before.

saw this song live about a dozen times, always blew my mind. Sadly i don't follow them like i used to. Not even sure if they would be as good as a duo. The really wierd thing is my anniversary is the same date as Linford and Karins. Guess thats why they wouldn't play at my wedding, lol
