G'day everyone, Today we are heading back out to Lot 3 Wentworth Street where the bricklayers have been to quick for me and have actually completed the whole project. I had actually hoped to get a progress video in for the carrying out of the brickwork but they were one step ahead of me. I am not complaining though as this is a nice situation to have while in the Home Building process. The bricks that I have used for this house are manufactured locally which offers a major cost saving, not to mention the fact that it is supporting the local economy as well. The birck are of excellent quality and the blend that I am using is called Salt and Pepper reds as they have a mix of black fired and white fired bricks in amongst the red overall blend. They obviously have to be cleaned still but I am very happy with how they have come up so the result is excellent. The choice of bricks is crucial to getting the look of your house right and achieving the theme that you are aiming for. Don't always get sucked into buying the cheapest bricks if it will compromise the look you are after. The average house may only have 8000 bricks in it so the difference per thousand of say $100 per thousand will only add up to $800 accross the whole job. Obviously do not waste money buy paying to much for bricks if you do not need to but make sure that you do not mess the whole look up of your house by cutting costs either.
