It is funny how I have never seen your videos before..... I am like a slightly younger version of you :-). You sound fantastic, rock solid swing and some lovely ideas. That is a lot of listening and hard work gone in to sounding like that. This is my favourite tune, Art Pepper's version is the tops, but yours comes very close. Lovely stuff.

Hi , I too play tenor and have an SML 19955 rev D, supposedly close in sound to Selmer SBAs (SML was building some for Selmer). I was wondering if you have some sound filtering or editing on this recording. Especially the upper register sounds really Getzy.
thanks , Stefano
I'm sorry if this is repetative: What mouthpiece and reed?

@maciagt It's probably my Otto Link Super ToneMaster with a Rico Plasticover 2 1/2 reed ...but it could be my Yanagisawa 8 mouthpiece. I can't remember which.

Hi 332546, Well spotted! I never noticed. But I'm not playing into a mirror. I'm playing towards my iMac which has got a built-in webcam, and crikey, it seems to reverse everything just like a mirror, Alice through the looking glass style. What a silly webcam. Maybe all webcams do that, not just iMac ones.

Hi Matthew, nice work on Detour Ahead, played with genuine feeling and passion, I thought. Great tone and phrasing. We do play in a similar style, and I am influenced by almost every one of your influences, so we are coming from the same place. In a strange mirror image of you, I took up jazz guitar 4 years ago. I will make my first recording and post it on You Tube soon. It would be great to get your critique on my guitar playing. Ian

Hi MrNepau, I have added some reverb and a little vocal compression on the recording, but I love the Getz sound and try to play towards it. I don't really know how he getz that special tone but I think it is so beautiful and quite unique to him. He was, as you know, a great master of the tenor sax.
