central islip dude?!! i'm in this choir and really like the stuff you guys do! hahaha good luck with this song, it's pretty tough and i'm sure u guys will sound awesome!
This is very, very well done especially given the size of the ensemble. Some parts of the song see quite a bit of divisi!! I'm starting this with my choir in January- it will be my first Whitacre piece!! I can't wait!!
the vowels are a little too spread for my taste. if they had taller vowels, it would really make their sound more mature. but intonation is mostly accurate. i love this piece. i had the honor of meeting eric whitacre on two occasions and he conducted my choir (the free state high school chamber choir) . he really is a nice guy and is extremely talented.
Awesome for a high school choir! I'm working on this with my high school. If they can do it, try slowing down a little more and the biggest suggestion is working on syllabic stress. Some unimportant syllables are emphasized. I like what you do musically though! The guys sound nice and you have great balance between parts. Obviously a wellfocused and talented choir!
My high school choir did this last year, and i partially agree with cheerbabe, whitacre's music calls for the sopranos to be light and no heavy especially in sleep and i felt that they were a bit over powering, and the altos needed to come out a bit more, but remembering how hard this peice was i think that they did a fantastic job....i also would of liked to of heard more of the bass part, its beautiful in this song.
Who says Being in GLee Club Sucks?? These HS students are future stars im sure of it. Good job guys.
Nice auditorium by the way.
