I can think of at least three very good reasons to shoot dove. 1.) A butterflied dove breast surrounding a sliver of jalapeno and a dab of cream cheese wrapped in bacon and grilled until the bacon is crisp. 2.) a butterflied dove breast sauteed in olive oil with minced garlic and basted with rosemary butter. 3.) Dove breast battered with egg, cornmeal, cayenne pepper and a few secret ingredients deep fried until they float. In point of fact, dove is among the finest table fare of winged game...
Doves are in fact a nuisance. They are extremely loud and wake me up most mornings by perching on a tree next to my window and making that loud cooing noise.
I keep a pellet gun next to my bed so all I have to do is squeeze a few rounds off and go back to sleep.
I get dozens a month but unfortunately there seems to be a limitless supply.
Other songbirds don't bother me, it's just the damn doves.
I have raised a dove from when it was a baby, and I think they are very sweet. There is no reason to shoot them. It is killing a songbird, which makes no sense.
I think doves are lovely. I just wish the pair that wakes me up every morning before the sun rises would learn to sleep in just a little later, that's all...
The dove is a beautiful holy bird it should be a sin to kill something so beautiful

...And there is only one way to get wild dove meat. There is no market for any wild bird; you must hunt it and kill it to enjoy it.

Lol. Doves are a migratory bird, if we don't harvest them someone else will. You get two or three of the little bastards and you have a great meal.
