This is a marx generator. Powerr source is a 12kV 30mA NST, rectified by three microwave oven diodes in series. The 9 caps are 30kV 470pF doorknobs. The 16 resistors are 5 x 220k 1/2W in series inside heatshrink, giving a 1.1M resistor. The spark gaps are silver wire with brass balls soldered to the ends.
The spark is set at about 5 inches long in the video. The discharges are quite loud, and are a blue-white in color.
how is it possible to have a continuous discharge? :)

@125varma Marx generators are pulsed. You would need an HV transformer. An xray transformer can get up to around 100kV, if you need more then perhaps an NST driving a cockcroft walton voltage multiplier would be in order. There are some good cockcroft walton multiplier videos on youtube.

@billg519 Thanks for replying :) I am planing on making a T.T. Brown cellular gravitator and I need DC voltage up to 500,000 volts. Do you know any ways that I can generate that amount of DC? I would really appreciate it if you could help me with this matter. Peace

@125varma Sorry, but I've never gone up to that voltage myself. You might need a van der graaf or something like it, and a very dry environment to work in as atmospheric moisture will cause issues of leakage at these voltage levels.
