Cal Smith had a show theatre at Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri back in the 1990's. Last I heard, he closed the theatre and went to Branson, Missouri to play as a guest for other shows. His Wikipedia page says he is retired--except for bass fishing.

I like Cal Smith, I love this song, but the two just don't go together. This is among the worst covers of a song I have ever heard. Kind of like hot mustard on a banana split. Two great things that just don't mix well at all.
