@meak911 : Keep reading! Luke 3:33 says he's the son of JUDAH and in vs 34 it says Judah was the son of Jacob. There is a man named Levi in Jesus' line however Levi was not Jacob's son. Jesus was from the line of David on Mary & Joseph's side.

Jesus Christ was of the lineage of David, of the tribe of Judah.

Jesus was not from the Tribe of Judah. In order for you to be consider a Jew you must be a descendent from Judah meaning your mother would have had to be a descendent of Judah. Mary was a descendent of Levi. (luke 1:36)
