Lesmond Louisy of Choiseul in Saint Lucia, West Indies demonstrates his joinery skills by making furniture from a non-electrical lathe by using his own energy. He uses some pieces of wood and rope made out of dried cow's skin to transfer the energy from his foot to the rope which drives the spindle. This activity is part of a scarce culture practiced in the country at the time when technology was not widely used to enable carpenters to build furniture. Lesmond takes the opportunity to display his skills at Saint Lucia's Creole Festival called "Jounen Kweyol" an activity which takes place each year towards the end of October.
