I finally made it down to my Dad's house to get some work done on the layout. But before I started on work, I wanted to recap some of the items I got finished during the last trip down (when I forgot my camera).
The first thing I show is the completed roundhouse. This is a Walthers 3 stall kit with 3 add-on stalls. I installed all the inspection pits and added the outside walls and clerestory windows, and roof.
The next project I finished is the High Line viaduct bridge. It is made up of a Walther's warren truss bridge, a Micro Engineering city viaduct, a Walthers through plate girder bridge, and a few N-scale tunnel portals glued together and built into a stone arch viaduct. All of these are double track. Bridging this gap finally complete the branchline, and also gave us the opportunity to drive the GOLDEN SPIKE! it can be found just to the left of the stone arch bridge.
I also show off some of the refinery structures I completed recently. Walther's Northern refinery, and a Vollmer refinery tower kit.
I get around to the other side of the layout and show off one my favorite projects I ever built. It is the Greenlane Bridge double arch concrete bridge. The prototype can be found in Manayunk, PA. There is another video that show the complete process of building this bridge. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YduFMgWRuVE
Another thing I did was print out a few background pictures. This was done on an amazing printer I have at work. I prints on 2ft wide heavy cardstock paper. Extreme high def printing. I can't wait to get them installed behind all these structures I've been building.

  • @grizzleybearz282004 Those thieving bastards! That really stinks. Did you shoot them on sight? :)

  • what the difference between a modern roundhouse and roundhouse add on stalls?

  • @efreet7611 There is no difference between them. Walther hase a modern roundhouse which is 3 stalls. There is an add on kit to put on 3 additional stalls.

  • where do you buy the cardbord strips form?

can u use cardbord box is it the same stath?

  • @dingo8880 You don't buy cardboard strips. You have to save that money for engines and boxcars! ;)

I cut all mine from long boxes. Just make sure you cut across the corrugations and not along them. That makes it easier to bend and contour them. I cut them about 1" wide. I have other videos that I talk about them gluing and stapling of the strips together. Also checkout the progress thread on my Youtube homepage. It shows the complete layout from the very beginning.
