Rowlf plays the song for the UK Spot on episode 514 of The Muppet Show. He is cut short by Beauregard, who wants to dust the piano.
"Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" was written by Johann Sebastian Bach.
It is the 147th of 200 cantatas written in his later years, and has become one of his most famous works.

  • In a way it's weird: Always the same jokes with the Muppets. Somebody is doing something, somebody else interrupts. And yet it never got old.

BTW: Love how Rowlf is humming to himself there. That's a true music lover. :-)

  • They actually showed Rowlf lighting a candle - Fire hazard! Fire hazard!

  • From what I understand, this isn't the only religion related song that Rowlf has performed, I understand that he has also performed "How can I keep from singing". Does footage of that exist anywhere?

  • The puppetry is so amazing--playing the piano finger by finger.

  • Aww, i love this piece =3

  • LOL

  • I'm pretty sure such an obviously Christian reference wouldn't have a place today

  • Excuse me, I mispelled "Beauregard". :-)

  • Beuregard, you should've done your cleaning BEFORE Rowlf played his piano.

  • Ha, "Liebster Jesu, mein Verlangen" by Johann Sebastien Batch--Bach. Woof, woof. ROFL.
