This has been a very popular tune in Scotland for as long as I can remember. It was composed by the Late Rev James Scott Skinner early last century.
I've added 2nd accordion, fiddle, drums & piano to give that 'full' Scottish band sound.
I've also added a slide show of Aberdeenshire to help you enjoy it even more.

  • Imust point out that James Scott Skinner was never a reverend

  • I thank you for that and stand corrected. I wonder why a lot of his tunes have the Rev Jamses Scott Skinner as the composer ?

  • Once again thanks for that, I've read up on his bio and indeed you're right. It's a pity he never got knighted as I think he definately deserved it.

  • Graham,

Please accpet my most profound apologies, nobody tells you things like that LOL,,,Jim.

  • No need to apologise Jim, I'm enjoyin' the blether LOL

  • Graham I had heard that Inverness is the same, in fact I believe that folk from Lossie and Elgin, go through to Inverness for their shopping. Tescotown, nah,nah much prefer Aiberdeen LOL I suppose all the Tesco's and Asda's it's known as Globalisation is it?? just ruins the old atmosphere of any places. You would agree that there have been huge changes with the fishing as well.Jim

  • Well, Inverness has 3 tesco stores, and no Asda. Asda have been blocked for years tut tut LOL

  • Inverness is the same I'm afraid Jim. All chain stores & supermarkets. We're now known as tescotown, LOL

  • Aye Graham,

I hear there are a lot of changes at hame, especially the fishing. Speaking aboot wee shops, my auntie used to work in Mitchel & Muills, I think that was at the Union Street end or the start of the Great Western Road, the best stovies were made there, aye changed days Graham and nae for the better,,,,,,,,,,,Jim.

  • Aye it's one of the best tunes of the east right enough. Most of George st. is now shopping centers, all the wee shops have just about disappeared. Pity.
