Common practice back then to cover groups from another countrys songs.This carried on into the 70's in places like Germany...The Scorpions released singles of themselves covering The Sweet!

I liked Del. He was from the city where I was born: Grand Rapids. The year he hit with Runaway there was another Grand Rapids group that hit with a novelty song: "Alley Oop" by the "Hollywood Argyles". I was 11 years old and went back to visit my half-brothers and families in '61 after we'd moved to CA. It was the last time I saw them. Whenever I hear Del I think of that...
