Katherine is the adventure capital of the Northern Territory. Located just south of World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park, it's where the tropics meet the Outback. Famous for the Katherine Gorge, the region is also the home to some of Australia's largest cattle stations.

The Katherine Gorge is located in Nitmiluk National Park and is a string of 13 gorges that carve through the Arnhem Land escarpment. You can canoe, boat, swim and hike the Gorge. It's also where Greg McLean's new horror flick, Rogue, was filmed.

  • at 1:01 is one of my favorite spots on the jatbula trail even though its right in the beginning.. whats weird is all the rocks at that waterfall are black now s till awsome

  • A place that is as relaxing and laid back as Katherine, I feel that a set of traffic lights is a bit inappropriate.

  • What's the chance, seriously, of the traffic lights becoming a roundabout?

Personally speaking, I prefer roundabouts on an intersection that is not overly busy.
