It's been confirmed the Greek Prime Minister's proposed referendum on the latest EU bailout will go ahead. George Papandreou's call shocked EU leaders, and sparked chaos on world markets. It even came as a shock to Greeks themselves, with pro-bailout MP's calling for his immediate resignation. The PM is now due to fly to the G20 meeting in Cannes to explain his actions to German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Nicolas Sarkozy, the chief sponsors of Greece's financial life-support machine. Seeking aGreekment: G20 focus narrows to Greece

The leaders of the G20 group of major world economies are meeting in France at a shaky time, with the eurozone trembling after Greece's shocking announcement that it is to hold a referendum on a crucial euro bailout.

The two-day G20 meeting in Cannes is mostly expected to aim at negotiating a deal to rescue Europe's failing economies, along with the eurozone monetary union.

Previously on Wednesday, eurozone leaders withheld the latest 8-billion-euro rescue loans for Greece until after its referendum on the package.

The currency crisis has pretty much high-jacked the Cannes summit and will be the main focus after the Greek PM's bombshell to hold a referendum on a new bailout batch of lifesaving measure being pushed by Germany and host France.

Greece given euro ultimatum by France and Germany
Nicolas Sarkozy, the French president and Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor, said no funds from either Europe or the International Monetary Fund (IMF) would be made available until Greece had accepted the austerity programme.
8:21AM GMT 03 Nov 2011
At a press conference Mr Sarkozy said: "Our Greek friends must decide whether they want to continue the journey with us.

"We cannot commit European taxpayers' money unless the rules unanimously adopted in Brussels are respected to the letter."

He was flanked by Mrs Merkel, who added: "The referendum will revolve around nothing less than the question: does Greece want to stay in the euro, yes or no?"

  • @Bushcamper4Sale

Unfortunately it takes much more than luck...and whatever it takes I'm afraid we don't have it here in Greece.

People have grown so accustomed to the way things used to work before the recent collapse that it'll probably take another generation before we can stand on our feet without foreign help.

Arguably the best thing you can do in Greece these days is...get out!!! Move to the East(India, SE Asia) where our dwindling income still counts for something....

  • @georgerelax7302 Good luck for the future my Greek friend.

  • @Bushcamper4Sale no,you are keeping it because you have nothing to show..ok? because you are a country that is so fake made.succesfull but fake..you are being manipulated so easy..you are never going to do anything beyond your wealthy life..and the funny thing is that you think that you deserve all these..keep the marbles so that you feel important to the world for sth that you didn't do..neither did I of course but you will never be important to the world.just one consumer..

  • @georgerelax7302 BTW we're keeping the Elgin marbles because we know how to look after antiquity - unlike you tzatzikis.

  • @georgerelax7302 Would that be the variant of the German language called "Greek"?

  • @Bushcamper4Sale always stupid arrogant english speaking guys..why don't you learn my language?? it is so much richer and more interesting so shut the fuck up and try to actually offend me..

  • @georgerelax7302 "do you got"? Learn to write English, maybe?
