This is such a profound statement on the emptiness of consumerism. He has what he desries, such as cars, boats, planes, and payment, and yet he sees the pointlessness of gathering these things, as can be seen in the line "way too many cars." The choice of "way too many" to describe the cars shows that he's aware of his excess and the resulting absurdity, but his pride in his economic situation overshadows this because of the consumerism he has grown up around.
