MPS 2012 Children's Program Noordwijkerhout (short version)

Tijdens het MPS symposium dat is gehouden van 28 juni -- 1 juli 2012 hebben Genzyme vrijwilligers geholpen bij het kinderprogramma. Zij zijn met de kinderen op pad geweest terwijl de ouders, artsen en wetenschappers ervaringen en de laatste ontwikkelingen over deze zeldzame ziekte met elkaar deelden. Tijdens het kinderprogramma zijn onder andere Madurodam en het Archeon bezocht.

On June 28-July 1 2012, the 12th International Symposium on MPS and Related Diseases was held in Noordwijkerhout in the Netherlands. This bi-annual international meeting was hosted and organized by the VKS (Dutch patient society). It is a unique meeting because it is attended by both scientists and families of patients with MPS. This combination of different stakeholders within the MPS community allows for a valuable exchange of information and experiences for all parties.
Genzyme employees from all over the world had the opportunity to help out at the Symposium by volunteering with the children and youngster program. This set-up allowed the parents to attend the meeting sessions undisturbed while their kids were able to enjoy themselves. Over 70 children participated in the programme, and 55 Genzyme volunteers from over 10 countries volunteered. The program was a great mix of fun games, arts and crafts, and interesting excursions.
