Duke Ellington's "Things Ain't What They Used to Be" as directed by Joel Vanderheyden from the Summer Jazz Experience at the University of Minnesota - Morris (UMM) on 6/17/2009. This clip features all participants of the four day camp (Maroon & Gold Jazz Groups) plus the musical directors and special guest instructors Byron Stripling (trumpet) and Kenni Holmen (saxophone). This was the last song of a nearly 90 minute concert that closed the camp. Watch for super solos from Stripling and Holmen and a fantastic "throwdown" between Byron and Kenni at the end. These professionals with the help of the students blew the roof off the joint!

I know what you mean. I live in Columbus, where Byron directs the Columbus Jazz Orchestra and he is a hoot.

Good times there. good times. playing with both guest artists was awesome and i couldn't help but admire Kenni for his sax playing. Byron was just as fun to practice with compared to his playing.
