  • @flyoverjoe not conservatives, republicans. there are conservative democrats. also: I have never met a racist in my life that was democratic. I like to talk politics. Racists tend to be very "in your face" about it quite often, too. Especially if you're alone with them and you make them feel "free" to share their "real opinions".

I'm talking from experience... years of it. Never once have I seen a racist person say "and that's why I'm a:

    "liberal"

    OR

    "democrat"

    niether. ever. not once. EVER.

  • One out of two isn't bad. Better than Ann Coulter.

  • @CityOfTheGo411 I used sports (all, not just pro) as a metaphor for how cons like myself believe the world should work. Your spot on a team is based on your performance and work ethic, not your skin color, and I believe opportunity should be available for everyone who wants to work for it, regardless of skin color.

I agree with your assessment of liberals.

And my statement was cons give a hand UP (as in "teaching a man to fish") rather than a handOUT (as in "giving a man a fish).

  • @CityOfTheGo411 First of all, thank you for your service. You have done a job in service to your country that I most surely could not do. As to the rest of your response, I am not quite sure what your point is. Yes, I used those terms. I use them because I do not believe in handouts, I think affirmative action is a joke (even if it's heart is in the right place), I don't like the way this country labels white guys they don't like as racist, and I believe in hard work. That's not conserv?

  • I see that I am stirring up comments, so let me add this: True conservatives are not racists; we just don't think anyone deserves special treatment. If you're struggling, we'll give you a hand up but not a handout. We love sports because there is no affirmative action--if you can play the position and you work hard, you make the team. Maybe because we don't wring our hands and say, "Oh, you poor little minorities," we seem racist. Truth is, we have a greater sense of equality than most.

  • @CityOfTheGo411 I am jealous. It kills me.

  • @AssistingHealth and we all know racists are the most evil despicable people on the face of this earth. Especially the white ones! oh, wait - only the white ones!

  • "If you're racist, you're probably a Republican." - This is true.

  • @AssistingHealth I agree. Why is it so difficult to understand what Maher said? If I had a bunch of, apples and oranges.. And said "I never said all apples are green, but chances are, if you're green, you're an apple. That would mean that there could be some red, and/or yellow, apples, but no green oranges. And I, too, have never met a fellow Liberal/Democrat who was racist.. But, since I'm white, I've met a lot of Conservatives who, when they feel they're "among friends", show their true colors
