Had red bars in corners after attempting focus with auto-focus (Half Press) every time I tried to take a picture on my Motorola Droid. Fixed for me by adding a little breath moisture and gently buffing the lens with my shirt!! Green corner bars now 100% of the time.
Dude! It soooo worked on droidx 2! U rock!!!!

This is actually incorrect. As @lazlzumad commented earlier, there is a glitch in the camera's autofocus programming that produces a rounding error that makes autofocus not work. The "clean the lens" approach may work for a time, but you're still getting around that error every 24.5 days.

I don't get it. Are you saying just wipe off the lens to get it to focus?

Just My experience. thought i'd share. Honestly went from 100% red bars to 100% green focus immediately after i cleaned the lens. . . =/

actually, it wasn't exactly a silent patch, but rather it was a glitch in the time stamping code for the photo software, as the camera cycles between periods of good focus response and bad focus response. The cycle lasts 24.5 days, and the period of good focus within the bug started today...
