  • I was with B Btry 1/320th FA, 82nd Abn Division in the invasion, we supported the 2/325 Inf in the field. I remember CPT Ritz and when he died. When people comment on the invasion all I tell them is my memories of the people singing "God Bless America" in the streets when the curfew was lifted and they were allowed outside their homes for the first time in over a week. The fact we gave the people their island back to them will be something I'll be proud of till the day I die.

  • more like GOD BLESS GRENADA!!!!!

  • That would be 2 Years LATER, I was in the 82nd

  • I was in High school, Rotc class in the am. Our SGT Major(ret) came in and informed us of the news. Members of the 82nd ABN, Ranger Bn's had Assaulted grenada. We were kind of in awe. 2 Years, I was a paratrooper with the 82nd!! HUAH

  • We lost the best kid from our neigborhood in Grenada. Spec 5 Phillip Grenier who was with 2 Ranger Batallion. I do believe he could have become the President.. 27 years later we still feel the pain. When I see the soldiers listed of who died in combat in Iraq or Afghanistan or somallia,, I tthink of how many other Phil Greniers we lost.

  • We landed In Grenada on the 25th; we had to unrig all our gear and equipment as we hastily got out of the 130. I was with the support element (DISCOM) supporting the 2/325. We took lots of small arms fire and we were pinned down at the end of the landing strip. I got my Sergeant's stripes just a few days later on Nov 1st. Former Col. Cusick (our BN CO)pinned them on. ONe heck of a day.

  • i was also in b-1/320th and was in bravo team fist. who are you? this is cpl. Picker

  • In Grenada there is a lot of questions since the last of the Grenada 17 was realest from prison on 5th sept 09. Most people ask what was done with the remands of the people killed on the forth that faithful day, Do you know.

  • great song, they played this song for us after we got back from urgent fury in 83"

  • You are so welcome. I don't consider myself a hero but I've always felt good about what we did there. There have been many who have criticized the operation and what happened but none of them I've met were there and saw what we saw - what was happening on the island. As for "mistakes" made, that happens, when I look at other operations I realize it could have been worse and am thankful again that Urgent Fury was relatively bloodless, bad enough for those who WERE lost. Best wishes to you.
