How to Increase the Life of your Laptop Battery

my laptop is meant to run for about 3 hours im lucky if it runs for an hour

The one I am using last at least 2hrs 30min. I will be very lucky if I can use the computer that will last around 2 hours. I'm looking to see if I can buy a battery that will last longer or just go ahead and buy another laptop...which is something I plan to do anyhow. Any good options on which is the best brand? I'm told that Acer is the best. I do like Hewlett Packard a lot though.

wow people really do not know anything about lithium ion battery's. NEVER drain them completely, every time you drain past 20% charge you lose 50% of the battery life. it is also recommended you store lithium battery's Fully charged due to ion transfer between the plates. lithium battery's don't have a "Memory" so its best to Charge them at every chance you get

I have a Compaq Presario CQ56 laptop and the battery only lasts 2 hours, so I just keep it plugged in all day, and sit in one spot. :)
