I ordered this book last night after seeing 'she sings lovely's' video on the regimen you provided in the get the length program. I am excited to read it.It'll make the 3rr hair book ive read. I will probbaly read your more recent book as well. Does the information in the two overlap? I am an african woman-I ordered the black women's guide... Thanks for your great work x

I bought this book several years ago and I loved it and I went natural... well I cheated and went back to relaxers and now 6 months relaxer free but my hair is severely damaged and I think I let someone borrow your book and they never gave it back. I'm buying myself a copy and my Goddaughter a copy today.
Blessings!!!

Hi Lisa, I have a question I've been natural for over 10 years and my hair is very thick and it seems to stay a certain length for some reason like 12 or 16 inches I think, I'm not able to make it grow longer because from the root to the middle my hair thick and full but as it starts to the end it's skinny and straggly and split. I sometimes have like 4 inches trimmed off and now I'm back with the same length. How can I grow my hair 22 or 24 inches long when natural. thanks

Hi Lisa.
I see u r a Trichologist. I have Alopecia (hair loss) on the left temple and crown of my hair. It grows back very short and then it falls out again in places.
Can you give me any pointers on products that I can buy in stores that will help grow it back?
Do you recommend a Dermatologist visit for Alopecia treatments?
I'm so happy to have this information from a "Hair Doctor" I wonder if you can show a video on how to blow dry your natural hair when you want to wear straight styles, is there a less damaging way to blow dry and flat iron natural hair? What number watts should your blow dryer be to safely blow dry your hair without drying it out to much and for flat iron which ones do you think work best for less damage and drying, or do you have a system for a natural to straighten with out heat?

After shampooing and conditioning, plait the hair in a leave in conditioner in small sections and dry overnight. Then, using a moisturizer take a section down at a time, and one heated tool-- either a flat iron or pressing comb. The temperature should be no higher than 250 degrees. Finally, use a small amount of oil to seal in the press, and roll the hair to create a curl pattern. This is a safe way to achieve straight hair.
Planning is the key.

First, I recommend that you read my book, Every Woman's Guide to Beautiful Hair at Any Age. It talks in detail about the different types of Alopecia. I also make recommendations on the various practitioners. But to start, I recommend that you do two things. First, save all the strands that you lose, they can be examined to see if they have hair bulbs. If so it can be determined if the hair strands are in the anagen growth stage (left your hair prematurely).
