Jeffrey Schott is a senior fellow at the highly influential Peterson Institute for International Economics and is an expert international trade policy and economic sanctions. In this interview he discusses the importance of the Asia-Pacific region to the US economy and the way forward for US-China economic relations. Mr Schott, who regularly briefs White House figures on economic and trade issues, also discusses the effectiveness of recent UN trade sanctions against Iran as well as the impact of the Gulf oil spill on the White House's attention to trade issues.
