How come he suprises me after all these years. I should know better by now!
He´s still the one and only ... The Boss!!!

I hear the same Janey Don't You Loose Heart and Cover Me also.
Old Tunes are Good Tunes

A lot of his "alternative takes" seem to be completely different songs, just with the same or similar lyrics. It's funny how often he'd re-use unused lyrics, but never seems to have re-used music. I love Cover Me, but this is great. It's a shame he never came up with new lyrics for it and released it on a future album.

@BrunoLeBoss Dave Marsh says the released version is a demo Bruce recorded for Donna Summer in '82. He kept it for himself, then soured on it and for a long time considered it ineligible for the album, which meant its lyrics could be donated to newer songs. My theory is that Bruce later came up with the 7-note riff for the unreleased version and needed a 7-syllable phrase to go with it. The phrase "cover me" only has three, so he added "drop on down and." Later the original returned to favor.

@Turtle152 It did reach the Top 10. But it was the final version called "Cover Me", not as good as this alternate version, unfortunately...
