It's the Neo Geo AES! Except it isn't! It's a handheld thingy with a TV docking wotsit. And it costs a lot of pennies.

(Another minor annoying thing: in Ninja Masters you press B+C to toggle your weapon, but that involves taking your thumb off the buttons and pressing down with 2 fingers as mashing them doesn't work.)
