After a day of heated debate Kenya's Parliament has elected an opposition party member to become its speaker.

The session was the first since the disputed Presidential elections that left hundreds dead in violence that followed.

  • I agree with you that MPs will always get paid whether the president is a legitimate or illegitimate one. If we had military rule then the millions used on paying MPs salaries could be used for building projects that would replace the slams. Do we really need MPs?

  • stop these unnecessary protests and get on with life. seek a new way to get Kibaki out. what people are oppressed? the people who are oppressed are those who are trying to feed their families in peace. wacha ujinga. MP's will get paid rain or shine. they will never put food on your plate.

  • may his groinal area be attacked by a million ticks and may his arms become so short so that he could not scatch the ticks off...with that, lets see if lucy kibaki would still go around slapping men. dont thinks so

  • oath of eligience

  • No sharia law.

  • The Parliamentarians and even Kibaki's team are indeed selfish but I think the Will of the people is very strong. The People will eventually have their own way and remove one obstacle after another. Nothing will resist the Will of the People. The Military or Police need the People because no country in the world will have economic ties with Kenya if the People are oppressed.

  • Kibaki though it was easier than this to rigg an election and get away with it. He has learnt a better lesson now. I wonder if he consulted with Y Musaveni before he went ahead his election on how to conduct a phony elections. If he did his friend might not have not told him everything!!!

  • Do the right thing kibaki and resign

  • the writing is on the kenyan wall Mr. Kibaki. You can pretend to be illiterate but that doesnt change the wordings written very clearly. YOU ARE ON BORROWED (STOLEN) TIME!!!

  • vsafder, kenya is bigger than any individual. special in its own way and can never (so help us God) go down to a civil war.
