  • That is absolutely wild!! I live at NJ shore and I have to try that, I've always wanted to. Your video is excellent, it really shows spearfishing well. Where was this taken?

  • @peeweecee You should get out there and try it.....Its a great sport. Nothing like looking at fish in there environment and being able to selectively take them. The video was shot in Blockisland sound.

    Thanks'

    Dave

  • OceanMurphy,

    Thankyou for your kind words.

There are many good choices out there. If you are looking for a pneumatic, than the Cyrano is a great choice. With the 7mm shaft it is very fast and hard hitting. It is well balanced and a very reliable gun. As with all guns, fish with the biggest that you can. I never fish with a pneumatic smaller than 100cm but prefer bigger. The Cyrano 1100 is a great choice and the gun I used to take the World Record Striped Bass.

  • awesome video, you're a great spearfisherman!

I'm looking to upgrade my speargun for more power, would you suggest the pneumatic cyrano? also would you suggest a reel on it, and if so the type of line? how much does a mamba kit cost? and which model of fins do you have?

it's a bit of a lot of questions, but you're one of the best!!

  • Reels are one of the best life insurance policys you can have while freediving. So to answer your question, yes, I would suggest a reel. Mares makes a reel for the cyrano that is light, rugged and most import, it has a fool proof drag system. The line I use is a simple diamond braided dacron but there are better lines out there like the dynema line.

I believe the mamba kits are around 200 dollars.

The fins I use are the Mares Pure Instinct Razor Pro's.

    Hope that helps.

  • Very Cool as well! Any video of the 68lb catch?

  • Unfortunatly. I wasnt running video when I shot the 68 pounder.

  • The mamba kit is added to the muzzle of pneumatic guns to increase their power.
