This award-winning video, which features an interview with legendary author Neil Gaiman, is a lighthearted look at how the University of Wisconsin--Stout backed down from its censorship of Professor James Miller's posters, one featuring a quote from the science fiction show Firefly, and the other condemning fascism. Stout stood by its actions until FIRE's advocacy campaign on Miller's behalf inspired Gaiman, along with Firefly actors Nathan Fillion and Adam Baldwin, to take to Twitter to encourage their millions of followers to contact the university with their support of free speech.

I would offer that anybody who feels a real and immediate threat to their life from a poster quoting Firefly probably shouldn't be in college, in fact they probably should be in a home where sane adults can see to their care and keep anything sharper than a rubber ball out of their reach.

This issue had nothing to do with Firefly at all and was a total abuse of a gullible and easily provoked fanbase by intentionally misconstruing the context of the censorship. All the headlines shown make an obvious attempt to portray Firefly as being disallowed. It's a real shame that people would resort to and encourage this sort of nonsense just to get a message out.

To my outrage Joss Whedon has said that he has zero interest in continuing Firefly or writing a Serenity sequel. The abrupt cancellation of the show and the poor box office returns the film initially got "disheartened" him on the Firefly universe. Really? Probably one of the most original universes to grace television/movies where sci-fi meets the old west and he is no longer inspired by it?? It really makes me wanna cry.

OK the truth is the police chief was told what to do in this matter. This has been normal practice. If it comes from the chancellor it is very hard to reverse. If it comes from the dean of students she will get the backing from the chancellor. There is more going on here and I wish some one would stand up to all the truths that Stout can not ever be trusted. This university has destroyed many lives with their abuse of power and intimidation. Believe me Fire needs to be on the look out.
