@taicleis usualy when a name is a literal description it's there specificaly to be clear, so translating is actualy more logical than just saying some japanese gibberish without knowing what it means :)
Plus, a few moves are actualy easier to understand when you understand the name
The japanese names for the techniques are nothing more than literal descriptions. "Mae geri" literally just means "front kick."
It would be different with things like NAMES. Seisan kata, that kind of thing.
But when I eat Japanese food, I don't have to call what I'm doing 'taberu'. Even though the Japanese made the food. The NAME of the food? Yes. 'Sushi' is a name, like 'casserole' is a name. But something with a literal definition, like 'punch', is not intended as a name.
Video is awsome! But what I dont like is Americanising names of the karate techinques!!!!
Wtfk.... I mean, hummer strike, x block, round house kick?!??!?!?! Come on.. give us a break... Please use proper languague..like oi zuki, or mawashi geri.... thank you!
thank you for posting this informative video
