This is part one of a 17:41 minute video I made by combining multiple different media of the jam from the Montreux Jazz Festival on July 7, 1973. There is no complete version of the performance of 'treux Bleu until now. Unfortunately, it exceeds YouTube's maximum length so I had to split it into part 1 and part 2 so you could view it. The audio will vary due to the multiple sources in order to reconstruct the true sequence, especially during Gene Ammons' solo which was truncated on Prestige P-10078. I have done this purely for historical accuracy and hope it is meaningful to fellow Cannonball fans. Of note, there is no video of the beginning of the jam until partway into Nat's solo. I extract some of Dexter Gordon from the video to fill the deficit.
Wonderful to see The Jug in action. Thank you very much.

the Nat solo was exceptional. Dexter's was average for Dexter. He has the harmonic knowledge. Gene came in and he focused more on the shape of the sound, he had to fire it up a bit because Nat upped the bar.

More saxophone players need to study Jug!! Thank you so much. As a tenor sax player/ player Gene will always be my favorite. His ability to create instantaneous emotions as Sonny Rollins said Guys like him and Ben Webster are in a class by themselves.
