On May 14, 2011, U.S. Representatives John Mica and Sandy Adams hosted 184 World War II veterans and guardians as they traveled to our nation's capital to visit their Memorial.

During their trip to Washington, the group visited the National World War II Memorial which honors over 16 million veterans who served in World War II, those who died and those who supported the war here at home. The Memorial was dedicated on May 29, 2004, nearly 59 years after the end of the War.

The day's events included a luncheon at the Capitol, hosted by Congressmen Mica and Adams, featuring guest speaker Vice Admiral Bernard McCullough, III, Commander of the U.S. Fleet Cyber Command and Commander of the U.S. 10th Fleet.

That afternoon, Rep. Mica, Rep. Adams and the group toured Arlington National Cemetery and participated in a wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns.

Additionally, the veterans took a bus tour of the Korean War Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, the Iwo Jima Memorial and other area landmarks.
