The East and West have the potential for a real breakthrough in their relations, according to the chairman of the U.S. Senate armed services committee.

  • This is good news! US and Russia can work together. The first step in this relationship is for the US to mind its own business and stop pointing missiles at Russia. NATO is also a problem.

  • There is stupidity and ignorance in every region in this world. I can say that because I have visited many parts of the worls as a tourist igor. The main point is I feel and wish that Russia and the US should become closer allies. The Average American ( and I am sure Russian as well ) wants peace and stability, not another cold war.

  • this video is old. Russia can not be usa:s friend until usa close the missildefense in europe.

  • Hope we can be friends with Russia. I've always thought that there was no reason for the US and Russia to hate each other so much. We have more in common, than we have differences.

I respect Russia. I think Russia respects the new Obama Administration's open attitude.

Here's to hoping we become good friends. *grabs a bottle of russian vodka* Cheers!

  • Russia may have at one time Applied for NATO... I've looked on NATO site and must have missed it... I think the point is they no longer act like there interested in joining... Whatever the case we should invite them and make them feel they would be welcome to join, and there issues will be heard as well as ours... the past is somewhat irrelevant at this point...Cheers

  • Repeating Quotes from Putin and remembering what I read isn't that hard. NATO even has a document all about Russia on their site with a lot of stuff about Putin. Check it out or shut the fuck up. This isn't a fucking debate.

  • TIME: What is NATO's purpose today? If Russia were invited to join would it do so?

PUTIN: "Russia has no intention of joining military-political blocs because that would be tantamount to restricting its sovereignty. But we want to have good relations, both with the U.S. and with other countries, including NATO countries".

    Time Magazine 2007

  • Here is a quote from the article in The Independent (UK) you refer to.

    ...

Asked whether Russia could join NATO, Putin told British Broadcasting Corp. interviewer Sir David Frost: "I don't see why not. I wouldn't rule out such a possibility. But I repeat - if and when Russia's views are taken into account as an equal partner."

  • Putin says Russia could join NATO (2000)

  • You are just repeating rumors as if they were facts. Links to official documents or it did not happen.

  • America and Russia as allies and eventually friends I hope... If it might be archived by letting them join NATO... What are we waiting for... I thought Putin was on the record for not wanting to be part of NATO.. If Putin does not ask again because he was rejected... Than the US should ask them two... ASAP...

  • Putin suggests Russia might join NATO Acting president says his country must avoid being isolated. - Newser You see in the March elections of around 2000 Putin wanted to join NATO. He continued to push for Russian membership into NATO until about 2005, because he got rejected for whatever reasons.

If you still want to doubt me, I'll check my bookmarks for you. I need to go to bed now tho.
