  • i know this is for cataracts but what does the surgery do

  • @tipyw Cataract Surgery is a procedure which removes a clouded lens and replaces it with an IOL (intraocular lens) that helps the patient see better. When the lens is clouded, it prevents light from entering the back of the eye the way that it should, which decreases vision. By removing the natural lens and replacing it with an artifical lens, it allows the light to reach the back of the eye so the patients vision can achieve improved vision.

  • @ShulmanTrujilloEye thanks, that is so cool, i was thinking all wrong, i thought it was just to get the cloudy area out and and give the eye a color and u wer still blinded, is there any causes of cataracts that you know of or is it a random occurrence?

  • @tipyw Almost everyone will at some point later in their life develop cataracts as they age. It is very common among elderly people. Some other causes can be diabetes, family history, long-term exposure to bright light, previous eye inflammation or injury, exposure to lead, and occasionally some asthma medicines. It is also possible to be born with them, but it is rare. Typically cataracts are something people don't have to worry about until they are much older, and they take a while to develop.

  • @DAROMSninja A routine cataract surgery should not alter the color of the eye. The color of the eye is given by the color of the iris. The iris lays on front of the cataract and it is not altered by cataract surgery because the pupil is dilated to permit access to the Lens. In rare occasions the iris needs to be manipulated or could scar changing manly the shape of the pupil.

  • There are many causes for monocular diplopia including but not limited to lack of an appropriate prescription for glasses or contacts, irregularities in the cornea, or the lens, cataract and problems in the retina. I could not tell you what they meant with "something being fuzzy" but the best way to know for sure is to see an Ophthalmologist. A detail exam would be done including a dilation of the pupil that would allow view of the inner part of the eye and most likely uncover the cause.
