I think when she sings the first part of the long "Alle Bande der Natur" it sounds uneven... And she isn´t acting well, but the power of her voice :O OVERWHELMING

WOW, she's standing there, the performance as bad as possible and then there comes such a voice out of her mouth! One of the better versions of this aria...

She was fantastic! However the production was terrible: Instead of the Queen of the Night being furiously terrifying like she should be, it just seemed as though she was giving her daughter a good talking to.

Deutekom never acted anything but she was a great Königin - what a voice!

@gianegian08 Those triplets are so even in strength and volume, they almost sound digitally produced.

@KOKAYT1 I think it's difficult to judge acting skills based on this single clip. This was staged for filming, not a live audience. Clearly, the director controlled the staging, and wanted her (for whatever reason) to remain stationary while the camera moved around the performers.

the definition of a singing actress is here...the size/attack creates this incredibly predatory effect, like the nagging evil presence that wont go away. No need for summersaults, puppets, stealing batons from conductors, acting like its all about you...etc. Deutekom enters the stage, opens her mouth, and creates. The voice does it all, and that is what a SINGING ACTRESS is supposed to do: make you see them with your ears.
