  • she really was great when she recorded this ....dunno what happened to her lately as i see her making the fool of herself on national TV all the time nowadays.

  • @sexypoetry She is still really great! Making a fool of herself? What recent appearances are you referring to that make her look like a fool? Just asking.

  • I like Annie Lennox, she's a great singer... and a fellow Scot.

But Al Green is still the master of this tune. Having heard Annie's version and Uyen Linh's I still haven't heard anything that compares to Mr Green.

  • @undercoverbrother67 Usually nothing compares to the original, but Annie's version comes pretty damn close=)

  • I have the better version. youtube.com/watch?v=zgYTy3kV1RY

I dont know what happened to your link but I can not access your link.

Another recommend for me is her cover perfomance in Vietnam Idols: Fallin' - Aliciakey

    youtube.com/watch?v=fQF7k1V1hWY

You should skip to 1:35 due to the introducing in Vietnamese.

The only studio version of her that we can find is another cover from Alicia called If I ain't got you.

  • Let's try the key words "Take me to the river Uyen Linh" and see the different btw these version. We're proud to say that our Vietnam idol give the best version. Not because of her English, or her performance, just because she give the song a soul and feeling

  • @CARMSFAV sorry, i am little bit grumpy but i was referring to a tv show in which she was moving like a "black" (brown) singress, and subconsciously revealing awkward mixture of condescension and admiration that she seemingly feels for "black" (brown) singeressesses (is that plural of "singeress"?)

  • @CARMSFAV i bet you "carmsfav" ARE actually annie lennox...well, this brilliant version of "take me to the river" makes me wanna have sex with you, despite those tv appearances that i did not like, and your disastrous attempt to bed david bowie on freddy mercuries grave.

if you say "yes" to this offer you will finally get over disappointment that you have experienced when bowie was not entirely bedazzled

  • @undercoverbrother67 Just listened to Uyen Linh's version....like all Orientals doing Western music it sounds forced, like bad cabaret. Annie's, however, like Talking Head's version manages to reinvent it without slavishly copying its r&b background.

  • Get it into ya....!
