    No, not really. It can start by just pushing the button on top of the motor. It's just a habit of mine to nudge it a little first which is not really necessary.

  • Oh, forgot to ask; what is the belt made out of? It looks like a metallic foil of some kind.

  • Is it always necessary to give the platter a "push" at start-up to bring it up to speed? Does that cause any extra wear on the bearing or drive belt? Gorgeous table!
