Thanks for the input kill crazy. I found the problem. The servo that controls the pitch was faulty. It wouldn't move at all unless it was jogged into life by movement from the other servos. It must have had a bad contactg at its neutral position and only worked when moved out of neutral. So I'd have the rotor at full speed scratching my head then the servo would twitch in to life and swing to maximum pitch throwing the heli up at speed. Frustrating as I trashed the heli trying to fly it.

that comment was meant for slowberries.
A cx2 for a beginner might not be a good idea. coaxial helis will teach orientation, but thats it. get hold of a good simulator like phoenix. that will do all a coax will, and more.

Sounds like your pitch is set too low.
unplug the main motor, and spool up. the blade pitch should increase to about +7 degrees at max throttle.
Try adjusting the knob on the left of the remote(clockwise) to increase pitch.
i haven't got a cp2 but its a classic situation with collective pitch helis.

No...Honeybee no good for beginners ! Start with a Blade CX2 or another fixed pitch heli.

I had a Fixed pitch prior to my cp2, and their about equal on stablity. but the CP2 costs a little more when you crash.

I think mine is broken. it just sits on the floor even at max power then jumps into the air when you touch the direction controls.
